I think kids should go to school because you need to learn more. If you get asked a question you would need to know it. So kids should go to school.

When you go to school you will play games and have fun. School should be fun and it is fun. You can play handball or soccer and all different things. You play all different games to different people and classes.

This s why kids should go go to school because when you are older you mite go shopping.
When you go shopping you mite wont to know how much you have spent. That is why school is important to for you.

If you go to school you will get good marks from school. If you go to school and when your older and you might go to TAFE you of got it from school. If you go to TAFE and get everything right that means you got some of it from school and you will get your self a job. so you should listen at school.

If you go to school you will meet new friends. You will play with your friends at school.Your friends mite ask you to come over there house. see school is fun to go too.

I think we should go to school because we learn lots of things. Our teachers are good and we play games. We have fun and make lots of friends.

If we don’t go to school we won’t get a good education. If we wanted to work in a bank you have to be able to count money. You have to get good grades to become certain things.

Our teachers at school are helpful if we need help. They teach us something everyday. If teachers didn’t go to school there would be no teachers around.

But girls, aren't we naturally smart. Do we really need to spen 6 hours a day learning things we will never use?

i think kids shouldn't have to go to school. You have sit in class for 6 hours learning things like maths and engish.

If you didnt go to school you could help your mum around the houes. You could help dad with washing the cars or truks.

If kids didn't have to go school you could spend more time with your family and friends.

I disagree that school is a waste of time because when they get older they will need to find a job. This job will give them money so they can support themselves. So when they go to school they learn how to read, count and many other things they can do things themselves. So when we go to school we can learn to be smart and get a job that can give us the things we need in life.

I think school is not a waste of time because you need to learn for when you are older to get a job. If you get asked a question you can answer it.You need to learn money and stuff like that.

Jessica, you obviously can see the benefits of a good education. How long would you suggest is a good amount of time to spend in school each day?

I think that school is a huge waste of time. During the majority of school, I just sit there with the teacher teaching other student's things that I have learned more than two years ago, and everything I learned last year in social studies, and the year before, has already been forgotten, due to me not needing to know it. Also, considering the massive amount of time I spend on a computer on a forum or such, I don't really need english class to teach me how to read complex sentences and words, along with how to write or type with proper spelling and grammar, due to me having learned it on my own in my spare time. Having learned what would take about 5 or so years in school, which i learned in about 2-3 months during summer, in spare time on the internet, leads me to think that it is even more of a waste of time. And stupidly, where I live, we have this 990hrs rule, meaning we have to be in school for atleast 990hrs throughout the whole year, when most of it is spent in study hall chatting with friends, or eating lunch. Because you could be done with all of your classes by 12 o'clock, but you would still have to stay in school due to the stupid rule. Also, now on to homework, I find it mostly pointless, all they want is to make sure you know the material, and well, isn't that what tests are for? If you spend twice the amount of checking on something, it may stay in the students head for a bit longer, but when they graduate and get a job, or go to colledge, odds are that the student will forget it due to them not needing to learn it. Another problem I have is with the incredibly huge amounts of repetition and learning things you have learned atleast 5 times by now. How many times must we learn about how columbus went to america just for gold? Another thing, when it comes to some classes, all the teacher wants to know is if you tried and made an effort, and in the real world, that wont really do anything if you only put in effort, but do not do it correctly. Well, thats my two cents, have a boring day.

Thanks John for your post. You have made some valid comments. Our blog is based on an elementary school in Australia. The children are just beginning to use web 2.0 tools and hence this blog.

The use of computers and various associated applications certainly enhances learning and brings the children into the world of the future.

I agree that you can only learn s many times about Columbus or in our case Captain Arthur Phillip. We need to teach the tools to obtain the information, rather than solely the information.

Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your post but we are on school vacation in Australia.
